Graduation

Graduation Requirements

To be considered a candidate for a diploma, the student must have completed the prescribed course of study as outlined by BCE's programs. The B.S. degree requires a minimum of 136 hours. No less than 139 hours of study (including two (2) years of Greek and one (1) year of Hebrew) is required for the B.A. degree. The cumulative grade point average for the 136 and 139 semester hours for the B.S. and B.A. degrees, respectively, must not be less than 2.00. The major area of study (Bible) must reflect a cumulative average of at least 2.50. Competency examinations in Bible must be passed. Satisfactory settlement of all financial accounts must be made through the business office.

The following procedures are followed in preparation for commencement. Please note that some items require the initiative of the candidate for graduation:

  1. The student must petition for graduation to the college administration. This must be done during the semester previous to the final semester in which commencement is to occur.
  2. Upon receipt of the student's petition, the college administration will review the candidate's transcript of courses, his/her development of moral and spiritual character, and his/her financial account with the business office.
  3. If allowed to proceed, the student is granted "candidate status," and the president shall be notified.
  4. If the student is not granted "candidate status," remedial work may be assigned by the college, which the student must satisfactorily complete by the conclusion of the semester of graduation. If remedial work is fulfilled to the satisfaction of the college, the student will then be granted "candidate status," and the president will be notified.
  5. The Bible competency examination at the end of the junior year must have been passed.
  6. All financial accounts must have been satisfied with BCE's business office.
  7. Graduate students must complete one year of internship with a brotherhood church with a satisfatory rating before they will be granted their diploma.
